Bret Hackett

Bret Hackett Healthy Home Consultants founder Bret Hackett works with a team of other independent professionals to build green structures and to deliver customized solutions for the green building needs of homeowners, developers, and local governments.

Bret Hackett has been involved in the building industry since 1994 when he worked with Levonian Construction in Los Angeles. Two years later his interest in building led him to study ecological design at Prescott College. That experience was culminated with the construction of a straw-bale home outside of Prescott, Arizona. Bret is currently in the process of building a green and healthy home in South Lake Tahoe. Bret is a member of the Sierra Green Building Association (SIGBA) which was created to advocate environmental design in construction and operation of homes and businesses in the Tahoe region and the Sierra. He is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The U.S. Green Building Council’s core purpose is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.

Bret lives, works, and plays in South Lake Tahoe, California with his beautiful wife, Rosie and their dog, Osa.

Christian Hurst

Christian Hurst Christian Hurst entered the trades in 1997, apprenticing in San Francisco on the renovation of Victorian homes under his uncle. While pursuing a graduate degree in Fisheries Biology in Santa Cruz, he developed a deeper interest in carpentry. On attempt to take a winter off to “ski bum” in South Lake Tahoe he developed a great affection for the area and has remained six years to present.

Having obtained his California state contractors license in the fall of 2005, he is excited for Hurst Construction to team up with Healthy Home Consultants in the pursuit of mutual goals. Discouraged by the rampant trend of local real estate to produce impractical, aesthetically bland homes, Christian hopes to make a positive impact in the future of local building by incorporating green technology and creative architectural flare to enhance both the community’s visual appeal, and most importantly, the lives of people looking to revitalize their personal environments.
